Thanks to our volunteers!
Every year BCSC introduces dozens of students to sailing by offer our Adult Learn to Sail Classes in conjunction with the Community College of Baltimore County. This year, ALS Classes ran late into the season with our final class in October. Our ALS instructors and volunteers muscled through all types of conditions ranging from the hot July sun to the powerful October winds, all in the name of sailing education. Happily, many of our ALS grads have continued to join us for Corn Roasts, Advanced Sailing, and racing programs. Congratulations to our graduates and thanks to all volunteers. I would also like to thank all the volunteers who helped “button up” the sailing center for the season. Over three Saturdays a team of sailors, parents, coaches, and board member worked together to prepare the fleet for the winter. The masts have been dropped on all the sailboats boats and the fleet of safety boats has been stored on dry land until next spring. The waterfront at Rocky Point is now free of buoys, boats, ramps, sails, and children, but only for a few months! In January we will begin with repairs and maintenance so that we can be ready to sail next April. If you are interested in helping out with repairs or would like to learn about boat maintenance, please contact me at aimee@bcsailing.org. Stay tuned for more info about winter volunteer opportunities.
