    BCSC Thursday Night Racing Program
    2008 Season

    The Thursday Night Racing Program will be conducted off Rocky Point Park by the Baltimore County Sailing Center; under race management from Glenmar Sailing Assn. All racing will be conducted according to the US SAILING publication The Racing Rules of Sailing. Boat owner participants can bring and rig their privately owned boats each evening or keep rigged boats there, space allowing. If you don’t have a boat you can participate using the Sailing Center’s boats. All boats must qualify and will race under Portsmouth Handicap, except Thistles and Junior Optimist which will race as one-design class. Other one-design classes can be added if there is a demand. Races are held every Thursday evening from 5/1 through 9/11.The races will be scored as a series by the month. The first horn will be at 18:30. The sailing instructions and hold harmless entry forms are available at the Sailing Center. This program is open to the public and will be available on a first come first served basis. Since this is a racing and educational program you will be required to be an active participant/ racer/volunteer. This is not a boat storage program. There are several ways to participate.

    Race & Storage $395

    • Dinghy or daysailer boats, CB/DB only, no keel ,cabin or motor
    • All trailer stored boats will be at the point.
    • Allows for the use of the boat at any time during park hours
    • Season April 19-Sept 30

    Bring your own boat $195.00

    • Trailer your boat in for each race night


    Juniors $50 per season or $3 per race

    • Geared to the participants of the other programs that BCSC offers such as TT and scholastic sailing

    Rental Racers $105 per person per Series
    • Series 1 -5/1- 5/29 5 races
    • Series 2 6/5-6/26 4 races
    • Series 3 7/3-7/31 5 races
    • Series 4 8/7-8/28
    • Series 5 Thursdays 9/4 and 9/11 and Sunday 9/7 5 races
    • Participants must be qualified to race or have an instructor on board

    BCSC will supply chase boat and safety boats which will be manned by volunteer participants of the program. If the safety boat operators were born after July 1, 1972 they will be required to have the MD Safe Boating Card in their possession. The sailing center will offer the course if it is needed.
