SUMMER CAMP 2024
Thank you all for a great summer!!! This summer we had over 500 campers at BCSC. Of course, sailing is our main camp, but we also have fishing and Chesapeake Explorer camp. At BCSC we spend our days enjoying the great outdoors. We get away from the screens and we enjoy nature all around us. We are located on the bay and get to enjoy all that has to offer.
Registration for summer camp 2025 will open in late December. We look forward to seeing you all again and wish you the best school year ever!!!
Ellen,
Camp manager

BCSC- Behind the Scenes Volunteer Crew
Unbeknownst to campers, racers and families associated with the Baltimore County Sailing Center, there is a group of dedicated volunteers who meet most Tuesday mornings almost all year long to take care of everything associated with the center. They usually work for 3 or 4 hours and fix anything that needs repair on the property as well as sail boats, buildings, motor boats and anything else that is used as part of our programs.
2 volunteers mainly work on keeping the motors on the power boats cleaned and in working condition so that we can run our sailing programs without having to worry about breakdowns. Other volunteers keep all of the tools and sailboat parts in good shape, so that our sailors can enjoy the experience of sailing to it’s fullest.
This Spring, we have cleaned up areas to enhance the appeal of our center as well as repairing a large portion of one of the fences that protect our equipment. We also just got delivery of a brand new 4 x 4 CF Moto Uforce 600 machine that will make our operations much more manageable. This includes moving boats in and out of the water and around the facility as well as having the capacity to transport items that we use for our programs to the different locations on the property where they are held.
Let’s give a Shout-Out to our Tuesday team: Bob Batista, Sonny Dietz, Doug Breakstone, Sam Jackson and Susan Davis. If any of you are interested in joining our team (for any amount of time you can spare), we have lots of interesting things that you could help with. No experience necessary.

Water Safety Watch
Secretary Susan sails on the Pride
Last night our Secretary, Susan Davis took a ride on the Pride of Baltimore to check out their crew and how they sail their large, beautiful boat. The crew members all started out learning to sail just like our campers do. Who knows, maybe one day you will be able to join them as a crew member
The health and safety of sailors and campers are a top priority for us at the Baltimore County Sailing Center (BCSC). Please note that we are keeping a steady eye on the water quality situation in Back River. As part of the Baltimore County Recreation and Parks system, we receive our guidance from the county. They routinely check the water quality in and around BCSC and will alert us if there are unsafe conditions. In the event of unsafe water conditions, BCSC will take necessary measures to keep everyone safe.
