Fall 2021 High School Sailing

Scholastic Sailing is one of the most fun and challenging programs BCSC offers. We treat sailboat racing just like some people see soccer or lacrosse. Students show incredible dedication by attending practices after school and then doing their homework in the evening. It is worth it though... the breeze on the Chesapeake in the Spring and Fall is exceptional. To participate, students must be able to sail and want to race. Some additional sailing gear may be required as it gets colder.

Plan for Fall 2021

The traditional HS Sailing program involves only racing and race preparation for school teams, rather than a focus on advancing the skills of the individual sailors.  This Fall, our high school sailors will better benefit from an instructional program focused on moving beyond "intermediate sailing instruction" and focused on racing, tactics, strategy and boat handling.

Schedule and Cost

With that in mind, and with an aim toward meeting our sailors where they are, we are modifying our fall program to be a Thursday afternoon (1 day) program from 4:00-7:00 pm each week, beginning on September 9 and continuing for 6- 8 weeks as weather allows.  As we will only be sailing one day a week, the cost will drop to $200.

Racing Opportunities

Sailors also have the opportunity to practice their racing skills in the Soda Can Series races, which will continue through October 14 on Friday nights, at no cost for our registered HS Sailors.  Parents are welcome to sail with or against their sailors on Friday nights.
